Most Reverend Swami Mohan Das Ji ,an illustrious Great Soul, was born Nov.14,1919,to Rana Family, in Buja ,Rajasthan,India, His father Bal Singh Rana ,a pious person, handed his two year old  son over to Swami Balak Das ji’s ashram.. After the death of Swami Balak Das Ji, Swami Mohan Das ji,moved to the Ashram of Swami Charan Das Ji and lived there till he finally decided to do penance in the dense forests between Alwar and Jaipur. After twelve years of rigorous Tapasya (penance) Swamiji had the vision of the Lord and attained spiritual powers.

The next phase of Swami Ji’s life was a total dedication to the service of mankind by establishing centers at Jaipur,Jalandhar and Haridwar.Reverend Swamiji visited Toronto for the first time in 1996. He founded Shri Mohan Das Seva Samiti of Canada during his to further the cause of Indian spiritualism, culture & heritage .It is, indeed, gratifying to note that Shri Hanuman Mandir today stands as one of the custodians of Indian culture & heritage in the GTA..Between 2006 and 2012 Shri Swami Ji maharaj visited Toronto many times to bless his devotees to infuse the spirit of  love, devotion and dedication to serve humanity. It is learnt that he was to visit Toronto recently but unfortunately he had to leave for the  heavenly abode on October,11,2013 ,which happened to be the most auspicious day of Ashtami of Navaratra.

Reverend Swami Ji was a highly talented
person, with a great vision. He strongly believed that  social evils and moral decadence can only be
counteracted  through education.He was a
great believer in the empowerment of the youth by providing affordable educational
opportunities. He was the moving spirit behind founding of Model School in
Jalandhar and Softdot High Tech educational Training Institute, offering
Diploma and Degree courses in various disciplines, with branches in New Delhi.

Swamiji was often moved by the plight of the less fortunate members of the society and came forward  to assist in the weddings of the  poor families, holding such ceremonies every year  in his various ashrams.Whenever, India faced natural disasters like flood, earthquake or Sunami, Swami Ji was always in the fore front providing relief activities. He used to say that pleasure of “giving” was always thousand times more then “receiving”.A true Mahatma, indeed.

Swami Ji was a great lover of Classical  Indian devotional music. He wrote the lyrics, composed music  and gave voice to numerous devotional prayers, bhajans etc. His bhajans conveyed a rare message that could change the attitude and direction of one’s life from despair and distress to hope and positivity. In 2012,I had the privilege to listen to Swami Ji’s bhajans in Shri Hanuman Mandir, based on Indian ragas, non-stop for almost two hours (he was 93 then). The divine vibrations of his voice touched many souls .I was also told about the great Yogic accomplishments of Swami Ji ,which only very few highly elevated souls can claim.

There is no end enumerating the grace and
miracle of the Great Souls like Reverend Swami Mohan Das Ji Maharaj. Their
grace and company is not every one’s destiny .They are born to show the path of
righteousness and alleviate humanity off the slumbers of ignorance, hatred and
bigotry.I earnestly hope that Shri Mohan Das Seva Samiti of Canada will
continue the mission of the Departed Soul and further the cause of Humanity
irrespective of class, color and creed. That will be the TRUE TRIBUTE to Swami Ji
Maharaj. Great Souls are always there to Guide if we have the will, faith and
devotion.
